can’t hate this

I saw this yesterday, and had a little WTF? moment. Mostly it was my own idealistic world being shaken–formerly uber-underground hip hop star pairing up with one of the biggest corporations. Aesop Rock? Nike? Gah! But it does hold up with the intertwined history of fashion, especially sneakers, in hip hop. And really, it’s not a bad musical idea: “I wanted to create something that evolved enough that the sound was constantly fresh and attractive,” he said, “as if the runner were moving through a set of differing cities or landscapes.”

Sounds good to me. I might just have to break down and check it out.
