2 days to go

I was going to start a sort of good-things-bad-things-countdown of my days in retail, but I didn’t (blah blah busy blah). Here’s what I’ve got so far:

  • Working in such a central part of town lets me see lotsa people I wouldn’t see otherwise. This can be good and bad. Sometimes very bad. Like that sweet kid you made out with years ago, who’s really excited to run into you, and you can’t remember his name.
  • This pseudo-paradox has existed, on at least one side, in every place I’ve worked (save for the beloved Cafe News): People you might actually hang out with, or at least like, drive you crazy at work. People you like working with, you’d never hang out with.
  • Retail burnout leaves you preferring to stand and slowly, very slowly, fold clothes and space out, rather than doing any real work, like talking to people.
  • It also leaves you hating people of every shape, size, color, smell and taste. No discrimination, everyone’s annoying.
