random hopping aka how my brain works

Dearest Bailee sent me a link the other morning to this commentary. Gotta love McSweeney’s.
Needing a refresher in some science basics, I found this: a break down of Occam’s Razor.
Reading this led me here. I was hoping for more info that I already own, but it didn’t happen. Instead, I found this: yet another breakdown, [...]

officially unemployed, kinda

It’s over. I’m no longer responsible for anything. Well, that’s far from true. But I don’t have to pretend to care about the small details of how a shirt lays across your back; about the projected sales of unnecessarily overpriced not always durable clothing; about who eats their lunch, when and how long it’ll take [...]

2 days to go

I was going to start a sort of good-things-bad-things-countdown of my days in retail, but I didn’t (blah blah busy blah). Here’s what I’ve got so far:

Working in such a central part of town lets me see lotsa people I wouldn’t see otherwise. This can be good and bad. Sometimes very bad. Like that sweet [...]

guns

After sleeping a lot, I got up yesterday to go shooting. Scarfing down some yummily unhealthy danishes and coffee, I was sugared up enough to function. My dad and I loaded up his lockbox (at any time it holds up to 4 handguns and lotsa ammo) and three rifles, and we were on our way.
Driving [...]

it’s all self-promotion here

My, er.. uhh, the 7hill Gallery opens next week. This flyer is why I shouldn’t be left in charge of flyers. Or is it fliers… yet another I always mess up.

fashion and drinks

Last night I cocktailed at the annual Arena Fashion Show. It was hectic and kind of disorganized, like a lawyers’ office after being left alone with a 3 year old: semblance of past order now torn up. It had a good plan, kinda, but the execution was not cute.
On the other hand, my cocktailing [...]

my boring weblog

What’s up, reader? This blog has gotten to the ridiculous level of serving as my to-do list and my have-done list. Like this: To-do: lotsa stuff; Have-done: lotsa stuff that I wish I had a camera to document.
So my observation for the day is that it doesn’t matter how interesting or uninteresting you find your [...]

and the light was good

Gallery lighting is up and functional. X-hundred dollars and many hours later, there is still a ton of work to be done. Like:

Getting rid of random furniture (anyone want some?)
Painting rafter-things
Cleaning the walls
Getting a desk-like thing
Moving my ‘puter to the gallery

Installing a dimmer switch
Dimmer installed. But there was no ground wire, and now the [...]

i think it’s funny

Yet again, wishing I had a digital camera to share these times with people:
- About 2 weeks ago, I spent all day running around gathering various things for the first Nightcap. This included me going into the Elysian in a ball gown and heels to get another keg at around midnight. Then not sleeping enough [...]

just news

With my heart half given to journalism, this story (and here’s another angle on the same event) has been in my mind. I already railed against the USA Patriot Act, and this is just another possible attack on our rights. Maybe the courts won’t blatently disregard the people, again.
Hey, another rapper is going to jail.
One [...]
