correction

To be annoying for a sec, my new spot is 7hill, not 7 Hill like I said before. Recording studio, maybe-a-label-in-the-works, gallery space, venue for interesting events and general contributor to the local scene; 7hill is quickly becoming a second home. The gallery space/venue is specifically the part that’s mine. OK, I don’t own it, [...]

my unedumacated obsession with marketing

(This was originally written on 9.20.03, but I forgot to hit Publish)
Art shows last night, I went to 2. Well, we missed the actual show for the 2nd one (Giant Robot release and Micah’s going away party) and just made it for the party. But the first one, held in a cleared out little house [...]

nightcap

(Originally written on 9.23.03. I forgot to hit Publish.)
This weekend taught me about how fun sleep deprivation can be. I used to live off of minimal sleep (where 6 hours was a joyful rarity). Staying up for a couple days at a time (even sober sometimes!) was nothing and I would get up Monday and [...]

to my friends

I haven’t seen a lot of my friends recently. Life and changes have had me pulled in 20 places at once. But soonish, like by November, things will have calmed down enough for me to play some more. I miss ya’ll.

nobody leaves the showbox sober

Here’s my quick take of the show I saw on Monday:

The Crowd: Wierd and eclectic. Drunken (except the underage kiddies on the floor). There are certain artists/labels/crews that’ve gotten a lot of exposure from this here interweb, and Rhymesayers seems to be one. So you have all the normal heads that come out to shows, [...]

first real bumper kiss

I had an accident. Driving down the 5 to work, I was half-awakenly listening to NPR and running down my mental to-do list. I glanced down at my phone for second (of course), only to look up and see the rear end of a big blue SUV coming at me. I hit the brakes and [...]

spinning

I’m spinning in cirlces. This past weekend was a blur of noise about an art gallery, new jobs, not working at one place 45+ hours a week (just splitting it up), bumper kisses, pipes blowing and ‘possums. More to come after I fix this sleep depreivation problem.

leaving retail

(Note: I thought I hit ‘publish’ for this entry already. I didn’t, so I’m doing it now.)
I’m quitting my day job. My time in retail is ending (again), and I’m on the hunt for a good night job. Why the switch? I’m going to open an art gallery. Rather, I’m going to be in charge [...]

7 hill

And it’s on. Old friends Ben, D and Jamie (James in business land) had the opening party for their studio last night : 7 Hill Studio (website coming soon). I wrote up a little piece about it in the work mag (it used to be Groovetech’s spot). They built a beautiful, professional recording studio. A [...]

friendster phenomenon

So I got a Friendster message from a phenomenon today. Looks like they deleted his account after getting too many friends (4k+). He has a thing about strawberries. He asked me a question (taken from an old pop-psych game thingy) about eating stolen berries.
