surretail featuring the ‘hood
Downtown Seattle is a lot tamer (Yes, I know ‘more tame’ would be better) than other big-ish cities. My new routine is to park near downtown, and skate to work on my years old, barely used skateboard. I used to skate, but it’s not like riding a bike.
Your body remembers riding bikes. My body does not remember how to balance well on a board, same when I snowboard. Every time I step on it, I feel a little off. Sideways, but not; the position throws me off.
After crossing 2nd avenue, I though I’d be slick and take one foot off the board to stop. Only somehow I got off the board all together, and watched helplessly as my Libtech took off after a woman’s ankles. She yelped as it hit her, me running behind it yelling, “Look out! Ooo, ouch. Sorry!!”
She looked up at me and smiled, “Oh, it just scared me more than anything. Have a good day.” Then she walked off.
Only in Seattle.
